April | Monthly Round Up

I wanted to post a little one of these after realising I hadn't and I love looking back on them, I love the idea of looking back on some of my favourite moments of the month and remembering how much fun I had; what I did, who I met, what I ate. I absolutely adore reading these kind of posts and I'm not sure anyone will bother to read this post on a Sunday morning - but at least I can look back!

Travel: When I moved to London, the thought of perhaps moving out of London had never occurred to me, and until last month I had never considered transferring university, so getting the chance to explore a new city was a total treat - and makes me super excited for the future. From a trip to Thorpe Park at the beginning of the month, to exploring the 'Silver City' with my boyfriend - getting to spend some solid time with my favourite has definitely been fun. We recently made a naughty holiday purchase to Greece in June, oops (but 100% worth it). I also paid a romantic visit to Hilton Newcastle back home with my boyfriend. The month rounded off with a mini-break in Aberdeen - which couldn't have been more relaxing. Here's to a special trip in Kavos in June and maybe another stay-cation too!

Food: Although I certainly consumed less sugar than last month; Ice cream certainly filled a gap in my diet and I'm now officially excited for sunshiny weather. I filled a lot of my month tucking into yummy breakfasts', with The Book Club at the very top - most definitely one of my go-to's for brekkie in London. I also visited Rye and Soda in Aberdeen, had an incredibly lovely afternoon tea at The Great British Cupcakery in Newcastle, sampled cocktails from The Alchemist (totally worth the hype), ate delicious ice cream by the sea and sipped on cocktails at The Botanist back home. I'm vowing that next month will include more ice cream and plenty of martinis (one of which I can definitely guarantee).

People: This month I have realised more than ever how lucky I am to have such a lovely group of friends around me. I'm definitely at an age where we're all moving on but being able to maintain such a special group of friends, family and boyfriend makes me feel super lucky! This month I was able to spend more time with my best friends, catch up with family and watch my sisters fiancé run the London marathon. I've only picked out snaps from Instagram which doesn't include snaps with my incredible people - which I vow to change next month.

Fashion: April was the month of awkward fashion. I mean, the weather is so unpredictable - but things are slightly heating up I suppose! My wardrobe had a pop of colour, my legs were treated to blue jeans and I'm getting there with heels. I've got a post coming up soon on a few of my favourite items - but basically I've been lacking in the fashion game this month. I can't wait for the next few months and all the new sunshiny-ness to perk up my wardrobe.

So yes - that is April in a nutshell! Naturally some things have been skimmed over a bit or not mentioned at all but some things aren't always made for talking about online. I feel so lucky to have special people around me. Anyway, here's to happy, healthy May (with lots of exams and saving up for Greece)!

Daily Makeup Edit

When it comes to makeup, there's no better time than spring to update my beauty routine with plentiful peachiness and a flawless fresh face. Today, I'm going to chit chat about what I'm popping on my current face.

When it comes to the face, I like something healthy, dewy and trustworthy. Currently I have been using the Too Faced Hangover Primer to even out my skin and prolong makeup wear. It also smells of coconuts and who doesn't want a coconut scented face?

As far as foundation goes, I have two options: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation and Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Foundation both in the shade Alabaster.

The Skin Foundation is what I reach for when my skin is having a good day. The formula is light and almost watery which may be an issue for those who love full coverage. However, this foundation is my holy grail and I recommend it to anyone who wants natural and dewy skin.

The Long Wear foundation is a step up regarding coverage from the skin foundation. I often look to this foundation on nights out and/or long days. This has a nice, moisturising texture and can be smoothed onto the skin with a damp beauty sponge to provide a flawless and healthy base for makeup. Additionally, if like myself you have porcelain white skin and struggle to find a matching foundation minus orange tones I couldn't recommend Bobbi Brown foundations enough. They changed my makeup game!

For concealer, I reach to Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly. You only need a tiny amount to provide substantial coverage for blemishes and underneath the eyes. Despite the thick formula it is the opposite to caky and heavy.

When it comes to brows I am possibly the most low maintenance person you will ever come across! I'm quite lucky as I like my brows natural shape and they only need a few plucks here and there every month or so. Equally, I enjoy natural brows and rarely fill them in, I'm obsessed with Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara in Medium Brown. A few strokes and I'm good to go!

If on the rare occasion I fill in my brows, I use Rimmel London Brow This Way Eyebrow Kit in Middle Brown. If I'm going to be partying all night long I use a minimal amount of the wax to set and define my eyebrows before using the powder to cover sparse areas. If like me your a fan of the 'barely there' look perhaps give these two products a whirl.

Everyone and their mum is familiar with Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Contour Kit, with six sculpting and highlighting powders it has never been easier to create razor-sharp cheekbones. The shade Light/Medium emphasises your assets with grey toned shadows to make you look chiselled. Equally, what I love about this palette is that is super easy to build colour until you have 3D features or you can barely use the shades to create a natural look.

In terms of highlighter, Mac Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle is so amazing for healthy, glowy and sun-kissed skin. I use the shade Soft & Gentle because the colour gives such a radiant look on my complexion. It's not too orange or brown; It's the perfect peachy bronze.

When it comes to blusher, I am infatuated with Benefit CORALista Coral Blush. I really like the warm coral-pink powder to instantly cheer up my cheeks. It has such a natural finish and I couldn't hop into spring without it!

On the eyes, I want intense shades that exaggerate my eye colour and I have pretty much been using the Too Faced 'Sweet Peach' Eyeshadow Palette since the day I bought it. The formulas are high in pigmentation and the shades are beautiful and they do smell like peaches! I often pop the shade 'peaches and cream' on my lid to brown bone, then dab 'luscious' onto the lid, inner corner and lower lash line before defining the crease with caramelised. I also really enjoy the two shades 'bellini' and 'georgia'. If you haven't guessed already, I'm a big fan of peachy pink.

To finish off the eyes I opt for another Too Faced favourite; Better Than Sex Mascara. Better Than Sex is perfect for length and curl minus clumpy black blobs. The wand is easy and mess-free and can be catered towards your eye desires. It can be massively voluminous or fluttery and baby doll like (my personal favourite).

Before I jump to the finishing touch I must quickly make note of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden. If you haven't dabbed this moisturising formula onto your eyes, where have you been? It is truly a magic potion mingled with control, trust and zero crease.

The culmination of any makeup look; lips. I like a pop colour and hint of sheen for a natural look. Satin lipsticks are great because you get hydration, colour and long-wear all in one formula.

Two lipsticks I have been obsessed with for a few years now are Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Penelope Pink (and Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk) and Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lip Colour in Flynn. Charlotte Tilbury is hands down my ultimate favourite makeup brand, anything she creates I fall head over heels in love with! Penelope Pink and the combined lip liner has been a staple of mine for a while now. The cashmere soft application is really nourishing and gives the lips a blast of the perfect pinky nude. Equally, Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Flynn has a very lightweight formula, giving a sheen finish with good colour pay off.

Otherwise I opt for the ever so popular Kylie Cosmetics KoKo K Lip Liner and KoKo K Gloss. The ultra nude pink lip liner is surprisingly long-wearing when combined with KoKo K Gloss. The gloss slides on smoothly and despite the lustrous formula, lacks in stickiness. I am often caught wearing this combination more frequently than the other two.
